Austin airport plane incident under Federal Aviation Administration investigation
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Federal Aviation Administration said it was looking into an incident involving two planes at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Saturday. The National Transportation Safety Board initially tweeted about a “possible runway incursion and overflight” that involved a Southwest Airlines plane and a FedEx cargo plane. When I heard them say they were on a CAT III ILS approach, I couldn’t believe it when the tower later cleared the Southwest flight takeoff clearance ahead of them. Nothing should have been allowed within the Critical ILS area.
