I keep thinking every time this gets brought up. The software did exactly what it was designed to do. What was not taken into consideration was the “what if” scenario if it activates when the flight condition does not require it. The failure was and is the pilot actions/training to take control back from the system? One crew did in fact recover the aircraft to under their control, run the checklist and safely land. This is where the whole system from line flight to maintenance write up to manufacturer/FAA notification fell apart and two subsequent aircraft were lost. Pilots have always said, this automation stuff is great now how do I turn it off. Instead of smartening airplanes up and dumbing pilots down we should be requiring more experience rather than handing out an beginners licence and throwing the candidate into the front of an airliner?
How true your statement is as I have in many posts on here said the same thing. The second crash that killed everyone was the airlines fault. The AC should have been grounded until the cause was sorted out. But no why not fill it up with pax and launch it to hell with test flights they cost money. And then the crew did nothing but flip switches until it hit the ground. They were well above manual trim speed, never followed proper procedues, one flys the other one tries to figure out the problem. But no full throttle until the end. Two piots that should not have been in that AC.
low time, low skill, low experience pilots contributed to the two Max crashes, as did the too-much-in a hurry to get it in the air and sell lots of them- the economic and political regulatory situation. Because blame is slippery to assign, it does not get properly asscribed, and not enough gets done to fix and identify faults, and to name, blame, and punish by monetary fines and incarceration those who morally deserve same. Jail time and monetary fines are overdue.
