Debris falls from Delta flight experiencing engine issue over Nashville: 'It's very concerning'
Residents of a Nashville neighborhood are raising concerns after an overhead Delta flight reportedly rained debris down on cars during an emergency landing. The plane — and its 149 passengers — landed safely back at BNA, but not before dumping debris all over the parking lot of a hose-supply business in Donelson, residents say. --it happens. The debris have to go somewhere. People seem to think that aircraft parts should magically disappear when they leave the airplane just like the big mac wrapper and soft drink cup tossed out the window of their car does.
I am also "very concerning" about been hit by lightning.
My point is, it is a very low occurrence event, they should be more concerned about been hit by bird poop than aircraft parts.

I have always wonder how much stuff over the years has fallen off of a/c... I have seen doors written up as missing and yet they were not written up before the departure, Screws missing from panels (see that quite frequently)... Those parts have to go somewhere.... I remember on a CRJ from Endeavor took off out of Fort Wayne, IN, upon arrival the crew wrote up that Wheel Bin Over Heat Warning was inop. Maintenance found the wheel bin missing from the a/c. It was located off the end of the Fort Wayne Runway... the list goes on. In the case of these Derbies, from the images that I saw, it looked like an Engine had an Un-Contained failure dropping melted parts of the hot section out of the tail pipe.
oh wow! I wonder if delta is liable for damage to vehicles or property on the ground that sustained damage..this is a totally different thing, but many years back when the dc-10 fleets were active with the commercial airlines, they had issues with cargo doors blowing off in flight, and one incident comes to mind where a casket with human remains,in the cargo area of a dc-10,(united I think),was sucked out and fell into a cornfield when the cargo door blew! I often think of things like this when I see aircraft flying over my home,as I am in the flight pattern for both a large metropolitan airport, and a smaller private one!!
That wasn’t united with the casket. That was American. It was known as the Windsor incident and happen on the 12th of June 1972 on board American Airlines flight 96.
