United Airlines and American Airlines offer help to stranded Wow Air passengers

Whatever happened to corporate responsibility? I've read that WOW continued to sell tickets for future flights right up until the airline was shut down. I guess that's the world we live in now, but, it hasn't always been that way.

One of the corporate victims of the 9/11 attacks was Renaissance Cruises. We were able to go on a Tahitian cruise with them a year before they went belly up in 2001, and it was one of the best vacations we've ever had. (Of course, just being in Tahiti helped. Of all the places we've visited during nearly 80 vacation trips, Bora Bora is the single most beautiful place we've seen.) With Renaissance, the vacation actually started and ended at LAX on chartered Hawaiian Airlines DC-10s that flew passengers to/from Papeete. When a problem with one of the air conditioning packs delayed our departure from LAX for 3 hours we were each given $25 meal vouchers and $200 on-board credit. When they went bankrupt a year later, Renaissance made sure that every one of the customers that was on a cruise or in transit was able to get home without spending any more of their own money...plane tickets, hotels, and meals were paid for. Those who cruises were interrupted received appropriate refunds. It was said the creditors weren't happy that passengers were essentially moved to the top of the queue for payouts, but the Renaissance managers felt they had an obligation to their passengers. Changed days.
