United Airlines Tries Hypermiling a Boeing
United Airlines has taken hypermiling to the skies. On a flight between between Chicago and Frankfurt, the airline employed every trick in the book to show what can be done to reduce fuel burn in existing aircraft. I have a feeling they saved 1,400 lbs of fuel, not 1,400 gallons.
It can be 1400 gallons.. its a round trip. :)
Ah. missed that part. Still, 700 gallon savings on a TATL flight is pretty impressive.
yeah.. maybe that is the reason why it is "news" ;)
Good for them, and coming from a US carrier it represents responsability on their usage of fuel.
