United jet plunges 20,000 feet over Atlantic Ocean
A London-bound passenger plane had to divert to Canada while halfway across the Atlantic after dropping more than 20,000 feet. (www.dailymail.co.uk) עוד...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
YAWN
Out of an abundance of caution, going forward I think I'll avoid United.
They seem to be in the news a lot lately, generally for problems. Are they really that bad, or is it simply a matter of scale? Because they are bigger, there is more to go wrong?

Well, they are in the spotlight because they were the last big merger and as you say, because of that, any problems are going to be sensationalized. The good stuff doen't sell papers or make headlines. What is more bothersome is that here was a Trans-Atlantic flight, with a 757, and only had 50 PAX, with 9 on the crew. That was a money loser to commence with. Now, the whole run may avereage out to a better occupancy rate than that, but if little things like that are slipping through in bits and pieces, they need to figure out how to stop the bleeding and fast!!
Nice way to travel--lightly loaded aircraft and several seats to yourself. Too bad they forgot to pull maintainence on the engines.lol BTW, making a profit on a flight is strictly a bonus not a plan.
Like I said, if the route average was higher in pax count, and this was just an off day, they'll probably be OK, but it seems to me a more common story these days; is anybody minding the store.lol
They have installed autopilots in the ivory towers for management. The store minds it's self now.
LOL
