The curious case of the weather service’s misappropriated $35 million
After a one-year investigation, NOAA has announced that in 2010 and 2011 National Weather Service employees at its headquarters “reprogrammed funds.” Unnamed persons moved $26 million out of the budget for local warnings and forecasts and $9 million out of the budget to upgrade the agency’s radar to include the dual-polarization capability. At least they did not spend it on a Party in Las Vegas or Hookers in another country.
Seems that ever since the GSA Vegas scandal, other agencies are coming under the scrutiny of the GSA highlighting other agencies "misappropriations. Just an observation as more and more of these stories come out.
Maybe it was a better/wiser project? What is the 'rest of the story'?
