EGPWS screams TERRAIN - TERRAIN - PULL UP!
This is an example when an airport is not in the EGPWS database. The computer does not know that you are landing at an airport. So it thinks you are flying low in relation to the terrain and starts yelling with the mode 2 GPWS "Terrain Terrain". Quite annoying, but interesting to watch. The landing and approach was perfectly safe with regard to terrain clearance, weather and runway length. Happy Landings, Guido (www.youtube.com) עוד...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]

Im surprised theres no override .... Also why was the runway present in the artificial horizon if it was not in the database ... Forgive me I am quite unfamiliar with King Airs...

Hi Ryan,
both are good questions. We are still investigating. I can only think that the database for the synthetic vision and the one for the EGPWS are different ones (although this would not make much sense). This is the only airport I have experienced that.
Happy Landing,
Guido
