The way SWA treats all it's customers is why I only fly them unless I would have to drive more than 2 hours to get to my destination. Congratulations to a caring and compassionate Captain and Airline for the service you provided to this poor Grandfather. Out prayers are with him and his family and for SWA continued success. You are the "only way to fly".
Another reason why we love SWA so much! What true humanitarian efforts from start to finish. Thank God for compassionate people!
Regarding 'bereavement' fares...back about 8 years ago they just became another opportunity to scr3w the customer. It is better to just buy regular ticket. (This experience applied to Continental, American Airlines, and Southwest). Now, I do have to say in this particular incident - yay Southwest for doing the 'right' thing.
The entire "culture" of most airlines would preclude this sort of action. Southwest, though, has always been a very human-oriented company (human as opposed to CPAs and other lower forms of life.) Paying attention to the people that have made your company successful is the way for continued success for any company, and Southwest has realized this from the very start. The attitude that led to this wonderful response to a very human tragedy permeates Southwest from the top down, and kudos to them all for remembering that it is people that really matter, not spreadsheets!
AMEN, CHIP CUSTOMER SERVICE MIGHT AS WELL CLOSE DOWN AT THE OTHER AIRLINES OTHER THAN SWA.... NOW, THAT'S A GOOD COST SAVING MEASURE... GET RID OF THE NON-EXISTENT, EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE... YOU CAN GET ABOUT AS MUCH TLC AND CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE FED GOVERNMENT... ANOTHER KUDOS FOR SWA... SOUTHWEST, GIVE THIS PILOT A PAID LEAVE OF ABSENCE TO TAKE A WELL DESERVED VACATION... LOVE YOUR NO BAGGAGE FEE COMMERCIAL...
This is the kind of action/approach that makes Southwest such a successful airline!! Way to go Southwest and kudo's to the pilot!!!! Thay pilot is a hero. To bad the other airline headquartered in Dallas/Ft Worth doesn't have a heart or show this kind of compassion. They probably would have fired the pilot and charged the passenger a massive change fee. (Love the "change fee" TV ads Southwest!!)
