Lockheed C-130 Hercules (83-0493)

Nice Shot. Brings back memories of the VXE-6 skibirds I used deal with out of Christchurch for Mcmurdo every Austral summer season. XD 03 was recovered from Antartica after lying buried in the ice for 17 years after two of it JATO bottles separated and tore off a prop and gearbox 50 feet into the air. Amazingly no loss of life in that accident but unfortnatley another skibird was lost in the recovery operation 17 years later and lives were lost in that one. The aircraft looked like new when it finally flew back into Christchurch. A fantastic story. Thanks for the photo and the memories.
