Grumman EF-111 Raven (A8142)

Wrong, F-111. It is not an EF-111 ECM that Grumman converted from the General Dynamics F-111. It is an Australian F-111. I was on the conversion team at Grumman.

For everyone who doesn't already know, all the photographer can do when he/she uploads a photo is to enter the correct ICAO Aircraft Type Code for the aircraft. Which Brian did. F111 is the code for all variants of the Aardvark. The name or nomenclature FA displays for that code is not controlled by the submitter. FA only associates one name with one code (no one knows how they decide which one), and it might or might not match the specific aircraft in the photo. Every once in a while they do match up. This is an ongoing point of great consternation among FA users. Anyway, that's a very nice shot, Brian!

Having done HTTP and DBMS code for decades, let me help with that.
If the programmer queries the ICAO db and gets back more than one result, the code can't tell which one to select. There's no enumeration to see how many substrings are being returned (eg: "f-111, ef-111"). Even if the result were sorted ascending, there is no way to determine which is correct. We typically pick the first substring and just 'pray'. The more substrings the lower the probability that the first entry is correct :SIGH:

Give us a break Robert Kap for god sake. As Greg said in the drop-down menus there is NOT A PROPER DESIGNATION FOR THE F111.

You put F111 in and it changes and gives you the ECM!
