I don't recall ever seeing a dorsal radome on one of these. Does anyone know its function?

Hi Jim, my understanding is these two were at RAAF Pearce in support for USA manned space flight. A publication "Being Aircraft Since 1916" page 316 refers to several C-97C being converted to search and rescue configuration, details and serial numbers are unknown. MSN for this aircraft is 16908,from Joe Baugher pages.
