Ram Air Turbine ( RAT) in case the Vulcan lost electrical power above 50,000 feet the RAT could be lowered from under the wing into the airflow to provide 17.5Kw of power, when the aircraft reached 25,000 the Rover Turbine engine could be started, this provided 40 Kw and was hopefully enough power the sort out any electrical problems. Once lowered the RAT could only be lifted back in position once the Aircraft was on the ground.
