First duty station after tech school was Kadena AB Okinawa 1970 where I saw the C-5 Make its' first appearance there. Needless to say it was a BIG deal. The approach of this giant seemed so slow that it gave me the impression of flying backwards.
Had one of these fly over me at SWF / Stewart ANGB. It literally turned the morning sky to dusk and made feel like I was in an earthquake. Awesome experience.
A beauty! Ive been to Dover AFB but nothing like this!
