A company official said the "pilots had to do an excursion". Hum, I didn't realize that was a required maneuvered during the type ride!
I could swear this is the second 73 from this airline that this happened to, in the same location...
No, this is the first accident for Tri MG at Wamena. (Their only other accident occurred during relief efforts following the Indonesian tsunami in 2005 when their Boeing 737-200 struck a water buffalo that had wandered onto the runway.) Another airline with a similar name, Trigana, had a main gear collapse following a hard landing on 13 Sept 2016.
Wamena, on the other hand, must be an exceedingly dangerous place. A search on Aviation Herald shows that 14 serious accidents/incidents have occurred there in just the last 8 years! Most involve runway excursions and/or burst tires.
