Years AGO, as a Captain on a B-757 we had a "Caution" Alert, for an an over-heat...thrust lever to idle (per the CheckList), the "Caution" did not extinguish. SO, next step is precautionary engine shut-down. This happened climbing through about 20,000 feet, En-Route from KEWR to SKBO (Bogata..or IATA "BOG").

Departure was KEWR, but weather there was iffy, so I went into KIAD...good weather, long runways.

Not surprising... But problems happen to every airline... Glad they landed safely... I hope they get the problem fixed correctly, and not just expediently.
