SWA flight diverted on zero flaps
SWA flight diverted on zero flaps. Why MKE, when GYY is closer? (www.avherald.com) עוד...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Gary's runway is not much longer than Midway's. The whole reason for the divert was to find a long enough runway for a no flap landing, which results in a much faster touchdown speed. I'm more curious why they didn't opt for O'Hare just across town.
Probably because of the higher landing fees. Gary's fees are the same as MDW
Or maybe because ORD has ten times the traffic and they'd screw the whole pattern up to take the diversion. Or maybe they don't really like SWA over by the lake anyway? ;-)
3,000 feet of runway and much better restaurants. Crew could get to hotel in limo rather than Brinks Car.
That's NOT funny. Gary has plenty of runway and over-run plus no obstructions. As now reported it wasn't just zero flaps, but 200kt landing speed, which can be adjusted with the throttles.
Good point...and if they did overrun SWA may even pick up a government grant for urban renewal...LOL.
Zero flaps = 200kn landing speed. As opposed to what, 130+/- ?
