It COULD be better used IF they sold a "Bed" for say 5 hours per person. On a 17 hour flight that would allow 3 turns thus leading to 1) minimal competition for Business or First Class products 2) increase revenue generated by the product 3) allow at least 18 PAX to take advantage of the service. Heck, if you dropped it to a 4 hour you could potentially create 4 turns on the product BUT that would really be pushing the limits for turnover by staff especially during the last 2 hours prior to landing. Just a thought. I do have to agree with Duncan regarding manners in this day and age of flying.

While some Islamic teachings consider a dog to be "Ritually unclean" Islamic fatāwā, or rulings, enjoin that dogs be treated kindly or else be freed. As a "Professor of Islamic Studies" it does not necessarily mean she practices that religion. If she does practice that religion, being a "Professor" should provide her with an even better understanding of the ancient teachings versus the newer teachings. You did mention a point of her JOB which COULD contribute to her belief system, we do not know what her religious practices are, and she NEVER mentioned, "It is against my religion to travel with dogs.", however she DID say she had an ALLERGY. let's not jump to assumption of what her religious practice is, let's stay with what she STATED was the reason.

If one is TRULY deathly allergic to something, especially if you know you will be in a confined space where that allergen likely will be present, the conversation should begin at BOOKING, carry proof of the allergy, and then the discussion should continue with each point of contact with the airline. Anyone with a true life threatening allergy knows it, notifies people AHEAD of time, and carries an Epi-Pen auto injector with them at all times. Clearly it was a ploy, as many have already mentioned, to get some kind of "benefit" from the airline. I think her "allergy" is actually to the lack of the world revolving around her.

Bert, I am spot on with your comments. The one thing I would point out regarding the aircraft's construction feeling too "light" is the intentional flexibility of the aircraft in general. As far as the interiors, as I am sure you are aware, that has nothing to do with Boeing's aircraft. I have noticed, increasingly on US carriers especially, the lack of attention to the actual cabin inserts. They do not seem to anchor the sections in place as sturdily as they likely were on initial delivery. I have found the aircraft take-off & landings to be rather smooth. The flaps, wheel retraction, and deployment do seem to be a bit more "noticeable" but I believe the overall flight quietness, along with the increased humidity & cabin air circulation cancel out my negative feeling regarding the wheels, flaps, etc. I am a firm believer the American carriers will continue to push the limits on what we will tolerate as a flying public. These will be ADDITIONAL 787's. Currently they DO fly long-haul routes from LAX to LGW, as well as offering flights from MCO, FLL, OAK, & JFK to various destinations. There is a bit of "kerfuffle" in the news but they are, in fact, currently flying and selling advance purchase tickets from the US. From the announcement it appears they plan to continue to expand the long-haul division's market share.

YES! It DOES matter! Most people have NO IDEA the government is even paying attention to THIS! The outcry, over the new helicopters, caused THAT issue to be placed on the back burner. Look at it this way, if you will please, for every person whom states they are against something the candidate's staff members, and the government, see VOTES! Yes, YOUR opinion does matter! (It just doesn't matter all that much. :-p LOL!) As a side bar, there is this little issue about TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. I have LITERALLY cut & pasted comments, on various issues, and sen them to MY Representatives. I have ALWAYS received a response. (Surprised the HE...double hockey sticks out of me!)

Being a part of the Boeing Dreamliner Design Team I will say this about the 87... there is SOME potential there. While we ALL agree money is an issue this has been put in to budgets for quite some time now. Another member, I apologize for NOT having the exact name, made the Achilles heel point of the 87... TWO ENGINES. Pretty darn good safety records from the advent of the LR, 2 engine, Wide body aircraft. I HIGHLY doubt they would EVER trust the life of the POTUS to a mere 2 engines. They are GREAT engines just not enough of them! At this point in time it is just a RFP to be issued, and even at that, in a few years from now. Who knows what will be the final DELIVERY date! Heck, the POTUS could be flying from DC to London in under an hour by then! ROTFL. :-) (If the Pres. decides to fly in a CESSNA 152 it IS AF-1!) Wouldn't THAT be a sight! I am still for the 47-8.
