After arguments, Marquette County, MI Circuit Judge Thomas Solka ruled that a temporary restraining order will bar moving the Ilyushin IL-78 tanker until 4 p.m. Aug. 27. Solka has temporarily set aside the sale of the jet to Temco and decided Headlands Ltd. may intervene and be an involved party in the case. The plane has been stranded at Sawyer International Airport since July 17, 2009, when it was making a fuel stop at the former U.S. Air Force base en route from Texas to Pakistan. The private plane that crashed July 13 killing a Skokie pilot and three grandchildren had failed to take off twice before the third and fatal attempt, an investigation has determined. The Beech 58 twin-engine plane tried to get airborne twice but both attempts were aborted by the pilot, Moshe Menora, according to a preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board. WDIV-TV Channel 4 Detroit reports that 2 people were killed after the crash of a small airplane near Detroit City Airport. The Detroit Free Press reports that the airplane was a Cessna 210.
