The Russian Air Force is falling out of the sky
Submitted
For all of Putin's bravado and bragadoccio trying to scare the West by sending Tu-95s half way around the world and assorted fighters to fly close to Western AF planes, actually it is backfiring: the more the Russian AF planes accumulate flying time the faster their planes will go kaputt. Most airlines are losing money big time, the only ones healthy enough is not because they are well managed and enjoy record traffic, it is because their governments own them so the balance sheet means nothing: Qatar airways, Emirates, Gulf and a few others. Now traffic is down so how come they continue buying new aircraft adding problems to their finances. Can´t understand. Submitted
For those of you who bash Airbus constantly this will remind you that they are a formidable competitor furnishing top flight aircraft, and it is thanks to them Boeing is kept honest when pricing their products. There is nothing like good competition. (news.yahoo.com) More...American and US Airways livery to be decided
Submitted
Looks as if the new and much commented on (pros and cons) American Airlines livery is still an undecided issue as Flightglobal is reporting. The new president of the combined airline Doug Parker is already calling the shots and is not comitting yet whereas Tom Horton influence is fading. Finally the U.S. Dept of Defense/Defense Contractors have to reduce their appetite for expensive weapons most of which such as the F-22 and F-35 were designed for aerial combat and have little or no use in the current environment of fighting urban and suburban guerrillas. Submitted
This ad put out by a recruting company is allegedly looking to hire pilots for both Korean Air and Asiana. Seems like the supply of ex-ROK air forceépilots has dwindled and/or their fleet and routes expansion programmes are demanding more cockpit personnel. Whether the Asiana 777 crash at SFO a few months ago is also a factor is not known. On May 5th PT-ZNF the prototype of model KC-390 suffered a runway excursion past the 4967 mts. long runway near Sao Paulo, Brazil and suffered extensive landing gear and lower fuselaje damages. This same aircraft had an incident on Oct. 17, 2017 due to an uncommanded extremely rapid descent of 4500 ft/min from 20000 ft to 3100 ft.
