Free market buzz is good for testosterone prone male that believe that they are on the right side of the fence, with the rich and famous. You confuse free movement and fair exchange of good, service and people with unregulated, unchecked, corrupted commercial practices propped to assuage the incumbents. You should read Theo Roosevelt New Nationalism speech. Do not confuse capitalism and democracy they are antinomic. Watch that great movie "Mr Smith Goes to Hollywood" with James Stewart (1939). If anything we need controls and laws to serve the People not a few oligarchs/corporatists.

You're right Mark. Does not make sense it's like all primary RADARs where in sleep mode or MH370 went out in the open to stay clear of RADAR and turned south. In that case it shows again human intention to avoid detection. It is weird that no one but the Malaysian military had MH370 on record. The only plausible explanation is that the airplane flew west some 600nm before turning left heading southeast. That's the only way to avoid primary RADAR detection from the Indonesian air defense system UNLESS they were sleeping like their Malaysian colleagues. We are as smart as our latest f...up. One more difficult thing here is that we are dealing with military people they're not known for being forthcoming and if someone did something bad they won't talk unless someone finds out.

Because it always been that way. In the old times when you had an electric problem or electric fire the way to fix/figure/reset (like with your PC)was to turn off the switch or breaker or fuse. In older transponder you might have a transmission freeze and ATC will ask you to recycle you transponder (turn it off and on). With CANbus systems the argument of electric fire is loosing ground but the industry has never tackle the question. Perhaps after the $$$$ wasted on the first week or two of MH370 search someone will come up with something. Inmarsat proved it very well; cheap and energy friendly. The transponder is a more robust piece of gear that provide data to ground RADAR and TCAS to flight deck.

You're right on Doug; That's the dark side of capitalism, the system is eating itself to the point where there would be nothing left but empty space. Without the People the process would have greatly accelerated after the Great Recession. This is what happens when you listen to the Market Priests. The alternative is very simple get back to Democracy restore the rule of law in economic matters, stop listening to snake oil salesman like Greenspan, Bernanke, Yellen, etc, Wall Street and Washington.

No, it's reality and confirm by many pilots. Sullenberger (The Miracle on the Hudson)flying Airbus confirmed it in a TV interview (search YouTube). You should read the Report from the French authority. My neighbor, retired Lufthansa 744 pilot told me the same thing, there is no way in this world that such situation could have happened on a Boeing even with French pilots on the flight deck. Former chief pilot at Lufthansa, in a TV interview (you might find it on YouTube)explained very well the shortcomings of the Airbus pilot interface. I don't know what is your experience in flying Airbus but I would say I certainly give more credibility to real pilots. As far as I recall the AF A340 accident at Pearson Airport, the First Officer overshot the runway in a botched approach (weather was very bad)combine to torrential rain on the runway . . . There is nothing free in this world, Europeans are subsidizing entire industries: Agriculture, automobiles, electronics, Airbus; one thing for sure there is nothing free where I live (Germany). Free market is a buzz word used by the criminals in charge of Wall Street, in Washington, Berlin, London, Beijing. Again European justice at its best, AF is not responsible???? It is very well known that Concorde's fuel tanks/wing design was bad. This accident was not isolated(at least one instance occured before this tragedy)and engineers recommanded many years before a solution to improve tanks protection. AF/BA did not implement the solution. The decision to remove the Concorde from active service was based on the cost/benefit of a complete redesign of the tanks/wing configuration. Reminds me of AF 447, it's not the airplane nor AF it's the pilots . . . The gvt owns AF, Airbus, CDG,the justice department, do you really believe you'll find the truth? Continental was the scape goat, 12 years have past AF is off the hook.
