Never ditch in shallow waters. You might easily get stuck between the seabed and the plane, which will ruin the rest of the day!

Chalet,- Your punitive attitude shows no respect for the real reasons for why this happened. Punitive corporate cultures tends to increase the likelihood of errors and omissions. A systemic approach to find out why accidents happen is more conductive to flight safety. Retards? I have seen great people kill themselves in airplanes! Shame on you, young lady!

Even if this airplane was floating in the mid ocean, it would still have been a major undertaking to find it. But who came up with the idea it must have gone south, and not north? Political motivation? To steal a 777 is easy if you are a pilot. To navigate and land safely and undetected,- that requires lots of training and careful planning. Let's hope this airplane never shows up over the horizon again.

My God what a bunch of horseshit! Get real, and look around! I have also buried soldier friends. I have also lived in all continents exept Antartica, but never met any so lost in either PRC, Africa, America, Australia or Europe! You remind me of those ludicrus commies I heard on the Moscow radio back in the sixties, when I also at the same time listened to Voice of America:'The United States Command in Saigon reported that 537 Ametican troops were killed in the fightings last week!' do you not think non Americans know what the cost of war is? Your agressive attitude creates conflicts that does not behove officers snd gentlemen of a most challenged world! We are all world citicens, and yes, you have a wonderful constitution, but that can not save a nation from stupid attitudes like yours! Great nations are built by great men, and destroyed by guys like you! Best rgds - Lars Oslo, Beijing, Shanghai, Moscow,Sydney,Singapore, London, Lagos, Windhoek, New York, Washington, Asmara, R

CRM is embedded in every multi-crew work on the Flight Dck! To resolve a human conflict is what we are expected to be able to do in an orderly and professional fashion as ATPL holders. What more information do you need if there in fact was an argument that caused them to be stood down? If a crew is unable to co-operate, its members are not fit for flight!

A guy was found in the landing gear bay of a 330 somewhere in Africa earlier this year. He had been sitting there on several flights to Jo'burg and was hard as rock from the cold he had been exposed to. The landing gear bay of the A340/330 type airplanes are like a good size bedroom, but much less environmentally inviting. I saw the pictures of this guy, and my friend brought him out. Hypoxia will set in at some 10 minutes after take off, and later, with -56 deg C at FL 350, deep freeze will be accomplished before top of decent. Don't try this at home!! Huge mistake!

A statement declaring somebody being the 'Best Pilot in the World' makes no sense. It is more about being properly vetted, trained by the best available trainers in the best organization available, and have some very good luck! I have seen a few No 1s in their class kill themselves in a split second of unfortunate circumstances that cut their careers very short. Some of them might have reached the moon too! But NOBODY can replace Neil Armstrong for being the first to set foot on the moon. I saw it live in black and white and realized I watched the most important event in human history as far as I was concerned. Neil Armstrong and the like kept us all glued to the TV whenever they blasted off. Still having an excitement filled career of some 15.000 flight hours later, I still say they represented aviation's 'finest hour',- after all, they were all aviators then!

This does not happen often, and can be very personal. I suggest a review of some basic CRM techniques, and a chat with the Fleet Chief Pilot. There can be a few hidden issues between these guys that needs to be looked into. A darker shade of blue can emerge out of this as we see hidden in many major airlines. I have captained big jets for 4 major airlines the last 22 years. Unchecked bad Crew Resource Management will lead to accidents, sooner or later, without exception! Shape up guys!
