I am a bit surprised and pained at the reaction of my dear aviator friends here about the sweeping condemnation of Air India !
Are you aware that Boeing have created a specialized full fledged facility in India to cater to needs of South Eastern Asian region ? Just not limited to India ! Why ?
In other squawks some of you mentioned that cracking of wind screen is NOT unusual. So why adverse remarks here ? What are you Americans trying to show ?
About safety records ? Indian skies are much more safe than American ones.
Our Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is Indian counter part of FAA+NTSB !
Check records of accidents. American have ALL categories of accidents possible. And Indians ? I invite you to do the search and research !
And remark thereafter. And not until then.
MHR (my humble request)

I commend you concern but this story is not that big of a deal. Brake problems happen all the time and the correct procedures were followed and no one was injured. As 'preacher1' mentioned below, if it wasn't a 787 this news article and resulting forum conversation would not be happening.
ThanX my friend Spencer McLennan, That's exactly what I have trying to say, inspite of NOT being knowledgeable !
Your two part logic seems to hit bull's eye.

With some, there is just an inherent prejudice built in. Not good, but reality. Coupled with that is that feeling of American superiority and you have the age old rivalry between Airbus and Boeing. That said, Air India, while having no major accidents showing, has been in the news over the past couple of years, not so much mx, but because of it's financial problems, nepotism, bloated bureaucracy and just general mismanagement. Couple that with the fact that the 787 is a high profile plane for right now and with the least problem, it will make the news where some other type AC would not. In doing so, all these past feelings will come out rather than the problem with the plane.
