At first, I thought I bumped my desk when I saw my monitor shaking. Then I saw other things shaking. It was really cool. I live in Harrisonburg, Virginia, about 70-80 miles away from epicenter.

Of course, I'm sure all the west-coasters are laughing at all the hype from this.

With all the media hype, I''m sure the quake's magnitude will reach at least 7.0 by the end of the day.

I didn't feel a thing in TN but others in AL,GA,MI did. I'm mainly laughing at the "Doomsday" preachers. They've been active now like never before.

For all my democrat friends .... This just in: President Obama has just confirmed that the DC earthquake occurred on a rare and obscure fault line, apparently known as "Bush's Fault"

In South Jersey, I was in the car eating a quick lunch and it started shaking. At that very moment, an AH-1 Cobra flew directly over me at like 200 ft so I thought it was him...but then it kept shaking for another minute. I was a little freaked at first.

I saw there were a lot of ground-stopped airports and holding patterns yesterday after it happened. I'm a little uneducated as to why. Besides runway inspection, are there any other procedures that airports have to do in a case like this?

Well none were very long and I imagine it was a surprise, but it does take a while to get equipment out, Michael, and look things over. Runway inspection just by itself would take a bit, plus, starting fromn VA north you have the most congested airpace in the country as we as a goodly number of Hubs as well, which was bound to have backed up some things as well.

I live in Christchurch New Zealand, yes, that was a powerful, shallow earthquake. Be strong on the East Coast of USA people. LOL

Hmm.... has anyone else noticed that earthquakes have become more and more frequent? Also, every corner of the Pacific Ring of Fire has experienced a major earthquake except for the U.S. West Coast?

They were talking about the potential of a major earthquake on "Coast to Coast" every since the one in Japan and Christchurch...I hope it doesn't happen but things do happen in cycles..I live about 40 miles from Charlotte and everyone there as well as people I work with say they felt it..I felt nothing but thing again the ground always trembles around here due to the trains and mineral mine in the area...I was outside one day and the ground shook and my wife ran asking what happened...I just said the ground always does that..After three yrs. living here she had never felt it.In that regard I probably didn't even pay any attention to the little quake.....any word on the nuclear plant they took offline?
