Nazi warplane lying off UK coast is intact

LONDON (Reuters) – A rare World War Two German bomber, shot down over the English Channel in 1940 and hidden for years by shifting sands at the bottom of the sea, is so well preserved a British museum wants to raise it. (news.yahoo.com) עוד...

@RobSJC
because if you don't learn from history, your bound to repeat it.

You have to remember not ALL germans were Nazi's, more than you think hated what Hitler was doing, a lot surrendered just to get away from it and some even plotted to kill him because of it. (ie: Operation Valkyrie).

Why revive the "Hitler era"? What the hell is that? Americans force their actions in WW2 down the world's throat and say that their soldiers were "hero's". Even though American airmen bombed millions of innocent German men, women and children, invaded and occupied Germany for decades and forced American policy on the European people, Americans always praise those actions. Chuck Yeager said in an interview that he hoped America would win the war because if America lost, he knew he would be tried for war crimes. He admitted that he strafed civilians in the streets, people that were just trying to live. All this and "RobSJC" makes the statement, "why revive the Hitler era"? Damn hypocrite. The same "It's ok for America to murder, but wrong for anyone else", BS has gone too far. Also, more American presidents have been assasinated and/or been attacked than any other leader in the world. Guess that means American presidents are the worst criminals in history.

Rob, if you would choose to forget, then you would also forget the lessons learned during that conflict, and it would be an insult to the memory of the men, women and children who died. The fact is, a free and democratic Europe endures today as a result of that conflict.

and Jason, in the grand scheme of things, war crimes were commited on all sides, though the western allied forces adhered more closely to the Geneva convention than the others. The russians were particularly brutal and actually suffered the greatest losses of the war.

Also bear in mind the good to come from the war, advances in technology such as radar, jet engines and nuclear power were all spurred on.
This being an aviation website, we of all people should be acutely aware of the massive advances in aerospace technology which occured, least of all the V2 rocket program which formed the basis for modern rocketry and space exploration.

What people in America fail to realize, mainly because they don't care about anything except America, is that Germany WAS a Democracy in WW2. American propaganda, which was used to the max to gain the support of everyone against Germany, had no basis of fact. It was just BS to encourage people to hate Nazi Germany and join the military to enforce American policy. Naturally nobody in America believes that the US lied about anything in WW2, but that's neither here nor there. There were free elections in Germany during Hitler's administration, but again nobody cares about believing anything except US propaganda for the simple reason they're afraid of criticism. I realize that people on this site are going to slam what I say, but history is what it is. US political lies have nothing to do with historical fact and that jackass comment that was made by "Rob" had to be addressed.

Jason, here is some suggested reading for you;

I'm not going to rise to your bait, others might, but I won't, apart from to say that you appear to have a rather skewed view of history.

Back to the topic: Preserving aviation history, regardless of the politics behind it at the time, is a_good_thing.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, proves my point. Wingscrubber here says he won't "rise to the bait" but he'll say I have a "skewed" view of history. This guy has done my argument for me. He says I have a "skewed" view of history because I don't agree with and nor fall into line with what Americans love to believe. Who is the one with the skewed historical view? The person who says that his country was right no matter what actions it was responsible for and committed? Yeah, that's not a bias point of view at all. Ha!! This guy is hilarious, the best comic I've heard in a long time.

I won't reply again, so feel free to write whatever makes you feel good, you're obviously having fun with it.
