TAP Air Portugal Continues US Expansion: Inaugurates San Francisco
On June 10th, 2019, TAP Air Portugal inaugurated service between San Francisco International (SFO) and Lisbon. TAP is now the only airline that provides year-round service between the U.S. west coast and Portugal. Today, SFO became the airline’s eighth North American destination, joining Chicago and Washington-Dulles, both also added in June, New York-JFK, Newark, Boston, Miami, and Toronto, Canada. Lisbon has many connections to other Countries, is only 5 miles away from the City Center, and allows people to sleep in the terminals overnight if necessary. It also has "showers available to travelers for a fee. Lisbon has about 26 million passengers per year compared to 77 million at Heathrow. What's not to like?
It is a strong development for Portuguese legacy carrier. Let's hope that the Lisbon airport expansion plans follows on the same pace...
Looking forward to next expansion to include LAX
The problem with LAX is LAX. Hell hole airport.
TAP was flying regularly to San Francisco in the 1990's operating with the L-1011 Tristar. So it's not an expansion, but a return!!!
