(Reuters) - London’s Gatwick and Heathrow airports have ordered military-grade anti-drone defenses worth “several million pounds” after drones caused three days of disruption at Gatwick last month, the airports confirmed late on Thursday. (reut.rs) More...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Just remember people, with all the technology and cameras around an airport there was no one photo or video of a drone and even the police said there probably was no drone at gatwick. so you dont need a drone to shut an airport, just a phone to ring and say the word drone.
I can't board an airplane with a 4.2 oz tube of toothpaste in my carry on, but people can buy a device in a toy store that can shut down an airport.
We need some better control of who gets these devices, and make sure each one is registered to the owner, and the drone itself won't fly unless it squawks an ident.

Control of any sort to those drones or other equipment will only be applied to those nice folks who like to play with them and mean no harm to to others. Those who intend to disrupt other people lives will get them in an illegal way and do their things as they wish, like other things such as guns and many others. So they have to find new ways to stop them. Maybe a distortion frequencies as a fence around airports.
So maybe it was just a marketing exercise after all.....:-)
Good.. violatirs will be destroyed.. that is all
Why can't they just be shot out the sky! I know the owners won't be caught but just stop them messing up flights!!
The authorities would have to actually see the drone to shoot it down (they did not).
