Travellers suffered lengthy delays after a plane bound for Los Angeles was forced to return to Sydney Airport soon after it took off on Sunday afternoon. United Airlines confirmed that flight UA840 blew tyres when it took off shortly after 3pm and had to make an unscheduled landing at the airport.
