Boeing Gets $1.5 Billion Surprise With New 747 Jumbo Jet Orders
Boeing Co. landed four new orders valued at $1.5 billion for its 747 jumbo jetliners, giving life to a program starved for sales amid waning demand for four-engine aircraft. (www.bloomberg.com) More...POTUS
Would that have really been a surprise to Boeing though? It seems to me that, with the connections they have in government, they'd know such an order was headed for approval.
I doubt they would order 4....
Actually the Air Force was already planning to purchase 4, simply so they ALWAYS have at least 1 if not 2 aircraft ready to fly at a moments notice. Right now with 2 they every now and then have to deal with issues of both aircraft needing maintenance at the same time. Also did anyone notice the part about the aerial refueling version, that gives away that they are working on a military one. Civilians don't have the tankers for that.
Could be as those were just talk but firm orders had not been placed the last I read.
