New Software Allows ATC to Focus on Communication Instead of Transcription
UFA Inc.’s ATTranscribe will allow for a high-tech streamlining of a currently archaic process. (www.flyingmag.com) More...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
I was a medical transcriptionist for 30+ years until I was kicked out of the hospital by voice recognition. Now patient records are extremely inaccurate and would be pretty funny if they were not such serious content. The thought of a non-human service decided what is correct when it involves human life and death is terrifying. If this is a highly specialized system that is being carefully overseen by a human, maybe, and maybe it will save man hours. I hope that is the case. I just think of my friend who almost died because she was told she could not have acute appendicitis because her medical record said her appendix had been removed years ago (oh oops guess that was a voice recognition issue...).
I have always heard it said that to Human is to Error, to Really screw up requires the use of a computer!
“AI doesn’t work in aviation because aviation phraseology is just abnormal." Not true. Given sufficient input data, a Large Language Model (LLM) AI program would be perfect for this application.
A LLM is a type of AI model that excels at understanding and generating human language. These models are trained on massive amounts of text data, allowing them to learn complex patterns and relationships in language. Even aviation language!
Sorry, this article reads like a sales pitch for ATTranscribe. There is nothing novel about transcription software.

That is certainly an improvement, but I think they need a fair amount more improvements system Wide!
