Cargo loader ‘falls asleep’ on IndiGo flight en route Abu Dhabi, DGCA orders probe
A Mumbai airport cargo loader “fell asleep” in the belly cargo area of an IndiGo aircraft that flew to Abu Dhabi, according to sources. Aviation safety regulator DGCA has taken note of the incident and initiated an investigation into it. The loader was subsequently brought back to India on the return leg of the flight. I remember a 727 coming out of Heavy Check... This young fellow was apparently pretty tired, so he decided to relax on the plane. Meanwhile A/C was pulled out of the hangar and completed. Mechanics did the Runup and Engine trims as required. Crew came an Repo'd the A/C to KORD. FA came on board and found the guy sound asleep... She woke him up and told them they were about to load. He jumped up, ran off the back of the plane... turned around and came back in and said: "Where the H*** am I"... Once he got back home to "KINT" his boss told him that he should fire him... But further told him that everyone in the hangar would be mad because they want to have a good time with him".... LOL... This article really brought back that fond memory! :)
Forgot to mention... His Nickname that stands to this day is: "Sleeping Ugly" even though he is retired now days.. LOL!
A former baggage handler for Eastern Airlines once told me of a co-workers of his who had acquired the nickname "Buffalo" for falling asleep in a cargo hold and waking up in Buffalo, NY.
I have a feeling this happens more often that we realize. Obviously it's a bigger deal when it's an international flight.

I wonder if he had to ride in the hood on the return trip
Glad that he did not freeze to death!!!!
many are heated now days due to carrying pets and other wild life!
Most cargo holds are pressurized and there's probably some heat coming through.
