Interesting idea those Soviets had. Put a glass nose on a cargo plane, install a bombsight and Presto you have a long range bomber. Don't know if they ever actually did that.

Actually almost all, if not all Russian built transports have a glass nose. Or at least the ability to put one in. It’s for a nose gunner. They also have the ability for a tail gunner. Most of our supplies where flown into Afghanistan on these or IL76s.
