Back in the days when I had more hair, British Airways served Adelaide. One's completely gone, but at least the other is still hanging in there and it ain't British Airways.

Great landing pic..5x stars..I am not totally sure but interesting on the top of the tail, 3 letters of the Reg. when I always thought BAW used 2 letters...but like Gavin, I am probably as old as he, but I have my hair still..LOL..but these OZ photos are great! I like them all....my Dream trip when I retire is SFO-SYD- then fly to Darwin, Perth for 2 weeks...and then back to Adelaide?? to that great Air Museum where the HARS Connie is. G'day Tom, I've got a few more BA and they've all got 3 letters on the tail but I won't for minute say that's the way they all were. I've even got the above bird in its old BA livery (red upper tail) and it had three letters then.

Thanks for the link and if you ever did get this way would love to meet and greet. If you wanted to communicate, Gary S has my email addr.

To the best of my knowledge, BA put 3 letters of the reg on the tail of the long haul fleet and 2 letters on the tail of the short haul fleet. As for why I have no idea. Great photo too I must add!!

forever Queen of the skies!

Best livery BA ever ran, with the navy blue top to the tail fin including Royal crest, and the red flash on the blue underside.
And the most elegant version of the mighty B747, too.

Kev Witt... thanks for the info and the compliment. Glad Tom raised the point of the lettering on the tail - we've learned something from it thanks to you.

Thank you very much John. Old is almost all we have to present for the time being and glad I've got some that people enjoy.
Tom Vance
Thanks for the comments on the Tail letters, I did not know Intl vs Short haul. Of course I only saw BA 747s at SFO, LAX or SEA in those times...good comments all!
