What took a USN C54 into YFLI praytell?...nice shot!

Chris, The story was that the DC3 diverted into Flinders after an engine failure. The DC4 flew a new engine out from the Phillipines to rescue. At the time I was attending the local school, when the Americians invited the whole school out to inspect the "giant" aircraft,so it was a good afternoon. I'm not sure of the exact dates,but can find out. The next year Ansett began using DC4's on passenger flights to supplement F27's, as well as the occasional freighter,untill about 1969
Many Thanks Donald!I was an FO flying the F27 for Ansett, commencing in mid 1982. I never realised that YFLI had actually been on the F27 route network in the late 60's...
Ansett pulled out of Flinders in I think 1975. The photos I 've put on the site from the 50's, 60's and 70's were taken by my father.
