Cessna Skylane RG (N6408S)
Short final into what used to be Meigs Field.

To bad nobody sees that sight anymore.
oh boy! that brings back memories of FS98...
Always wanted to visit this airport since when I was a kid. When I finally got there, it was just a boring patch of grass.
Flew into Meigs a few times a month back in the 1970's and 80's. Landing to the North was easier then landing toward the South. There was generally a few different layers of wind shear landing South. But a fantastic airport and so close to the city. I was a fan of Richard J. Daily until he surreptitiously destroyed the Runway at Meigs and closed the airport. On the night of Sunday, March 30, 2003, Mayor Daley ordered city crews to make the runway unusable by bulldozing large X-shaped gouges into the runway surface in the middle of the night. The remaining aircraft were finally given permission to use the adjacent Taxiway to depart Meigs for the last time. FYI: Microsoft's Flight Simulator defaulted to Meigs Field upon opening of the application.
