Is Allegiant safe?
Because of problems on recent Allegiant flights, my children are reluctant to fly it and we have a trip next week. I can't figure out if their record is significantly worse than any other airline's, or if the labor dispute is leading to more publicity. Thoughts? Good work. No doubt the site is not friendly to Allegiant and seems to mitigate against the long-term good of aircrew. Who benefits if they close? I flew Allegiant a few weeks back and was very pleased. The plane had a little age on it, but then so do I. It may (may) have more miles, though.
Seems like most of their issues lately have been with the MD80's they fly. Nothing really serious and their accident record is very good (at not having them). I have to wonder since the pilots are at odds with management over maintenance, is there really a serious problem or are the pilots trying to gain public support for their labor dispute issues. Don't know and surely do not believe any pilot would intentionally fly what he/she thought to be an unsafe plane. Got to wonder what's really going on here. They're a budget airline flying older aircraft so these "incidents" are going to happen. And passengers are less than happy when their flight is cancelled because of a maintenance issue. It takes time to either fix it or get a replacement plane and Allegiant doesn't have a big inventory to choose from. But I do admit Allegiant seems to be having more than their share. But then again, United isn't faring so well lately either. LOL
Your part about pilots intentionally flying an unsafe plane is really more than what people think. Contrary to what pax may think of themselves and how noble the flight crew may be, that crew in the pointey end is looking out for themselves, as they want to go home too, and they are generally the first ones to arrive at the scene of a crash.
Regarding the Pilot's grumble on safety, Allegiant could be running MEL to the limit on certain stuff which can be aggravating.
I was thinking the same thing. Nothing like getting into the cockpit and asking yourself "wonder what's not working today?" Really aggravating. Being pilots, Preacher, we know about that MEL. Unfortunately, those folks who get the big checks in the corporate office think that when the coffee machine is broke, it's a major disaster.
Yep. LOL

If there is a labor/management conflict as suggested elsewhere by Loral Thomas, the website itself could be part of the union response, as is a 'work to contract' strategy.
