Canada Delays F-35 Purchases Until 2018
Critics say this is a move to get the conservative party through the coming elections Canada is one of the partners in the Lockheed F-35 program and has previously lashed out at rising costs and continuing delays. The more delays put into the program - real or political, the more things cost to manufacture and deliver - simple economics. The poor (world) economy and defense spending cuts by the current US administration has partially defunded the analysis and correction of many operational and software issues found with the F35 since flight testing began - no money, no resources to make the fixes - more delays, more cost. Anyone around when the F16 program was in its infancy should also remember Pres. Jimmy did much the same thing and the delays in geting the aircraft into full production was an ever increasing cost spiral, with the same complaints from the program partners and purchasing governments. it is the indecision of politics that is driving the delays and costs - the aviation industry can build and deliver if it has the funding.
I always suspected the Canadians were smarter than us.......
Sure, who is going to protect them if they were to be attacked? Who has always protected north America and the world for that matter....
We were only attacked once - and it was by you - incidentally you ticked us off and we burned down your White House.
What would you guys do if you contracted the purchase of an expensive car at say 50K but while they wer making it the cost grew and grew uand now the bill is TWICE AS MUCH. Don't give that "you can not compare apples with oranges" crap, money is money.
Well the F-22 - the USAF wanted 381 aircraft, but put a cap on cost, if the cost went up - then they would get less aircraft - in the end the prices skyrocketed and the USAF ended up with 187 aircraft.
