The Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (Haeco) and the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) have threatened to seize a B747-400 belonging to Orient Thai Airlines (Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) over the carrier's failure to pay MRO and parking fees at Hong Kong International.

The South China Morning Post reports HS-STC (msn 26548) was ferried to Hong Kong in March this year where it was to have undergone maintenance. Though work began, Orient Thai's failure to complete full payment resulted in all activity ceasing. As such, the aircraft has now been left engineless and idle on the ramp at Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok.

An AAHK source said the company was now considering taking legal action to recover its costs.

Orient Thai also has had another of its four B747-400s, HS-STB (msn 24956), laid up at Taipei Sung Shan for the past several months with its fate also unclear.

The ch-aviation aircraft database shows that of the airline's twenty-strong fleet of seven B737-300s, two B737-400s, four B747-400s, five B767-300s, and two B767-300(ER)s, only four B767-300s are currently active - on flights to China for the most part.
