North American F-86 Sabre (N188RL)
Comments
Growing up in Montreal , our home and my high school were both in view of Canadair . I saw hundreds of the Canadair Sabre taking off and landing . And I saw hundreds of 104 Starfighters , also built by Canadair.............. excellent memories .
At the time Canadair was a subsidiary of North American Aircraft Manufacture to build The Sabre and Lockheed Manufacture when building the Starfighter.
As a child I watched avidly as these beautiful aircraft were converted at Liverpool airport. After all these years I cannot recall for whom the modifications were carried out but they were such an attraction for aviation orientated youth.
Nice aircraft but got clobbered by the Indians flying Gnats during the India-Pakistan conflicts in the 60s.
How do they get that polish so high? It is a mirror finish.
Hours of elbow grease application and removal. They certainly never had a shine like that prior to becoming somebody's pride and joy.
if my memory serves me right is this one not a F-86 Sabre ????
To quote Wikipedia:
"The F-86 was also manufactured by Canadair in Canada as the CL-13 Sabre to replace its de Havilland Vampires..."
So, the CL-13 is the Canadian variant of the F-86.

Oh, and that's a really nice shot, Gary!
Beautiful bird flown by PAF, Pakistan Air Force. Many wonderful memories of watching dog fight practices. For the record...5 Indian planes shot in less than a minute in 1965. 16 F-86 diamond formation still a world record for the PAF.
The markings are 613th fighter bomber sq, England AFB, Alex city,LA, 1956-1957
